    Standby Generators

I have a Generac 8kw automatic standby generator at my current house. It should be called JUNK-ER-AC. I have had to put a lot of money into this POS piece of equipment. I hate it. I had to replace the natural gas valve a year ago. Now plastic carburetor choke sticks closed in very cold weather. I hate this POS. I have had to work on it several times after the warrantee was over and it is expensive. I have more than usual power outages where I am. I have complained to Generac. When that did not work, I got on Amazon and wrote the worst possible, but 100% accurate, reviews.

I am building a new house about 3 miles down the road from where I am. I have specified a Kohler 12kw unit. Does anyone have any experience with these automatic standby backup generators? Runs on natural gas. Starts 12 seconds after power fails. Backs up whole house minus A/C. Getting the cold weather kit to heat battery and oil in cold weather.

I figured that I know that Kohler at least makes good engines with metal carburetors. At least that much has to be better than Junkerac.

I have a brigs 10 kw generator , runs on natural gas , runs great , and will run everything in the house , even the ac . starts every week and runs for 20 minutes . No problem at all . I did have to replace the plugs in the unit . even -40 C has not caused a issue .. 4 years now ....
