We haven't been getting much rain here this year either. Not enough for good plant growth anyhow. I took this year off from planting since I have enough jarred up from last year, but I like to use a rain barrel to water with when it's dry. The way mine is set up, I have the down spout from a gutter plumbed into the top of a 55gal plastic drum, with a ball valve at the bottom. I have a hose with a sprayer that I connect to the valve, then I have a hose that comes out the top connected to a pump in the barrel that I can hook to a soaker hose that runs through the garden. The plants LOVE the collected rainwater far more than the city water. I just make sure to shock it with bleach from time to time and drain to keep it clean. I just do it when I know we're going to get enough rain to refill the barrel.Last edited by chuey_316; 06-16-2023, 04:19 PM.
